Spirit of the Night

National award winning oil painting - The sun begins to set over the Rocky Mountains and a familiar shadow steps out of the Wild West history pages onto the landscape. A beautiful, fearless and proud head lifts, nostrils flared, eyes wide and ears pricked. The mustang stallion’s proud heritage is written all over him as his mane and tail wave in the night breeze. By midnight the striking beauty will be barely visible through the scudding clouds. His majestic presence embodies the mystique and power of the Spirit of the Night.

The image features a realistic painting of a horse standing in a field. The horse appears to be strong and is facing the viewer, with its mane and tail being tousled by the wind. The lighting in the scene creates a dramatic effect, with sunbeams breaking through a cloudy sky and casting a bright spotlight on the horse, emphasizing its presence in the scene. The field is depicted with tall, dry grass, and the horse casts a distinct shadow on this grassy terrain. In the foreground, there are several large, textured rocks that add depth to the composition. The landscape stretches out behind the horse, fading into the horizon with a sense of vast openness. The use of light, shadow, and texture gives the artwork a dynamic and almost ethereal quality.

The original oil painting is 40"H x 30"W x 1.5"D on gallery wrap canvas.
