Reverie of Ravens
The ravens have found a shiny new timepiece. Perhaps they will be able to steal some time.
This painting was inspired by personal raven visits and experience. Ravens are intelligent, curious birds of mystery. These exceptionally intelligent birds have observed me feeding and watering them daily. Appreciating and remembering my generosity they bring friends. Lots of friends and gifts. Some of the gifts they have brought include a root beer bottle top, gold earring, plastic toy soldier, tiny green beads, a penny and a gold rock to name a few.
Ravens remember and recognize people that are kind and bring them food.
The artwork presented is a painting featuring five ravens in close proximity to each other and various objects. The background and elements of the piece suggest a vintage or timeless aspect, particularly with the golden-brown hues that provide an age-worn aura to the scene.
The ravens are portrayed with meticulous attention to detail, each feather defined and imbued with deep shades of blue that shimmer against the golden backdrop, suggesting a sense of richness and depth. The birds appear curious and engaged, with focused eyes and poses that imply interaction either with each other or the objects nearby.
Centerstage among the objects is an ornate pocket watch with its face visible, indicating a specific time. The watch reinforces the theme of time and perhaps history or antiquity. The positioning of the watch and the raven looking directly at it can suggest a symbolic reflection on time's passage.
The presence of the natural elements like the wood stump and the delicate texture of the ravens’ feathers contrasts with the man-made objects, creating an interplay between the animate and inanimate, the natural world and human artifacts. Overall, the painting evokes a contemplative mood, inviting viewers to ponder on themes such as time, history, and the animal kingdom's interaction with human objects.
The original is 24"H x 20"W x 1.5"D on gallery wrap canvas.
